How do you send invoices to the public sector?

If you have to invoice customers from the public sector, you have to do so electronically. This rule applies in many EU Member States and in other parts of the world as well.

There are several ways to send e-invoices. If you want to make things easy for yourself, it is best to choose a platform you can use for all your public sector customers – no matter where in the world they may be.

Within the borders of the EU, one approved platform is already available: namely, PEPPOL. PEPPOL is an EU standard for invoicing the public sector.

All public sector bodies within the EU are obliged to be able to receive electronic invoices sent as PEPPOL invoices. This means that you can send e-invoices to all public sector customers within the EU as long as you use the PEPPOL standard. And if you have customers in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States, there are many businesses in these countries that can already receive PEPPOL invoices, too.
