How do you send invoices to the public sector?

If you have to invoice customers from the public sector, you have to do so electronically. This rule applies in many EU Member States and in other parts of the world as well.

There are several ways to send e-invoices. If you want to make things easy for yourself, it is best to choose a platform you can use for all your public sector customers – no matter where in the world they may be.

Within the borders of the EU, one approved platform is already available: namely, PEPPOL. PEPPOL is an EU standard for invoicing the public sector.

All public sector bodies within the EU are obliged to be able to receive electronic invoices sent as PEPPOL invoices. This means that you can send e-invoices to all public sector customers within the EU as long as you use the PEPPOL standard. And if you have customers in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States, there are many businesses in these countries that can already receive PEPPOL invoices, too.

Do you need to send an invoice to a municipal, state or other public sector authority?

No matter whether you need to send an invoice to a state or municipal institution – or if the recipient is another public sector authority or organisation – you can do so quickly and easily here on

Simply enter your invoice data in our online invoice template and then use the online directory to select the relevant recipient directly via the template. In this way, you can be completely sure that all the data about your customer will be entered correctly, and that your electronic invoice will make its way reliably to the correct recipient.

All your invoices will be delivered in the form of what is called a “PEPPOL invoice”. A PEPPOL invoice is an electronic invoice that can be received by all public sector authorities and organisations within the EU – and in several other countries.

If you need to send a large number of invoices and would prefer not to have to enter all the data manually, you can integrate our e-invoicing platform with your company’s ERP system. You can then process your invoices directly in your ERP system as usual, and we will make sure they are reformatted to meet all the requirements on electronic invoices stipulated by the public sector. And, of course, we handle the process of conveying your e-invoices safely and securely to the right recipients.
